We started off, bright and early...
You're right. It may have been bright, but 11:00 in the morning is by no stretch of the imagination early.
We drove east where we met up with the Fresno clan to help celebrate Laners birthday. After a few hours of talking, playing, pony riding, and tag, we were back on the road, heading south.
Which meant a stop for dinner...
And then into our pajamas...
We arrived at Melissa's house after an hour detour thanks to Google who sent us on a wild goose chase for a street that doesn't, apparently, exist. The next morning, we stopped at Subway for sandwiches and hit the road again, with Melissa in tow.
Our destination?
Our mission?
To have an amazing day or ensure Aunt Melissa never has children.
We rode rides. We watched parades. We paddled canoes.
Because at Disneyland, even the smallest of guests can paddle her canoe all by herself like a big girl.
We ate our Subway sandwiches in New Orleans Square while around us jazz music filled the air and people passed in their dapper outfits.
And while Joseph rode the big kid rides with Aunt Melissa, Elizabeth fell asleep to the rattle of cobblestones and the buzz of people.
We had a late afternoon snack of churros and cotton candy while the parade danced by.
And, for the first time ever, I didn't bring my "real" camera, preferring the ease of my iPhone to the bulk of my Rebel.Still, when I look at the pictures from the weekend, I'm awed by the beauty of my children. It takes my breath away.
We got home late, after a bit of an adventure that deserves its own post, and then woke up before the sun had risen over the buildings to head home.
It was a long, fun-filled, amazing trip.
I'm so glad we did it.
Even if Melissa swears she'll never do it again.
And I need a week or two to recover.

i love your storytelling here, and your pictures are fantastic. i can see your eye for photography clearly with you using an iPhone rather than a camera. :)
Looks like Melissa lives in my old neighborhood. Also? You just made me want to go to Disneyland, and that is not easy to do.
Your little loves look so happy and excited to be spending time with you and their Aunty... Can't wait to get back down there in September after having this little kiddo. ;)
