Technical Difficulties

Mandyland is experiencing technical difficulties.

After the Great CD Climb of '09, Chad and I ventured into Best Buy to find a new computer. Buying a computer in Mandyland is usually a source of extreme confusion, frustration and head scratching. We can't wait until the kids are old enough to take over that particular chore. Joseph should be ready in about six months.

We brought home our computer and came to the realization that we have no idea how to transfer files from one to the other. For a split second - okay, a half hour - I thought we could just transfer everything to a flash drive and "taxi" it over to the new computer. The problem is that our files are bigger than the flash drive.

Let the research begin.

Don't worry...I'm a stubborn woman. I will find a way.

just did the same thing over here - get a portable external drive (they have great ones at Costco, ours is HUGE and was way under $100)... copy all files onto the external drive and then copy them again onto the new computer - the external drive will also act as a backup should your primary computer ever crash [insert shudder here]

2nd vote for External. We got a 1Terabyte for right around $100, maybe less. Then you can move over the files you need and they are always backed up.
