45

One of the projects Chad and I worked on over the weekend was moving my bookcases from the baby's room to our bedroom. As we alphabetized, I sorted out books I didn't want.

I just posted 45 books on paperbackswap.com. These are books that I didn't particularly like. You know...Desperation Books that I bought in a moment of "Oh Lord, my favorite authors haven't written anything!!!" I now have 99 books currently posted. I've mailed out an additional 84 books. That's a grand total of 183 books that I've sent on their way because they weren't "good" enough for my personal library.

The remainder of my library numbers around 643, not counting the 38 in the garage that I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to keep.

When I mentioned that the books I'm currently posting numbered 45, Chad said, "Do you realize that there are a lot of people who haven't read 45 books in their lives?"

"No. Maybe in undeveloped countries, but there's no way a lot of people haven't read at least 45 books in this country. I mean, school alone would require you to read that many."

Chad disagreed. "I was talking to a guy the other day who said he'd read three books in his life."

"That's just impossible."

Is it impossible or is my judgement warped by my love of books? Chad thinks the latter. I'd like to think the former.

Trust me...these are not books that you'll want to read. Most are contemporary, which you're not into and the others are, well, Desperation Books.

You can look through them on Wednesday, if you really want.
