New Year's Resolutions

Every year, I swear the end of procrastination is going to be the number one resolution. But then I forget to type it up.

It's funny, isn't it, how a new year makes one want to write down new goals, new hopes, new ideas. This year, I have a few. Most I've been thinking about for quite a while. A few I've been thinking about this week.

Every year, I swear I'm going to get healthier, but then I let other things get in the way. I was speaking to my friend Ashley not too long ago. She had an inspirational year last year. I asked her what it was that motivated her and she said it was knowing she really did have to take care of herself first.

So this year, I'm not going to resolve to get healthier. I'm going to resolve to take care of myself first. If that means saying no to other things, then I'll say no.

I'm resolving to have the beta draft of my Nano project ready for reading by March. Then, I'll work through the kinks and have a full manuscript by May. I know this seems awfully quick, but knowing how late I usually am, I think it'll be okay.

I'm resolving to being a better bloggy buddy, to comment on the posts I read and to reply to the comments left for me.

I'm resolving to get to bed by 10:30 every night instead of lingering on the computer until well after midnight. More sleep means a healthier, less grumpy me.

And I'm resolving to be okay with the changes in my life. I know that may not seem like a difficult resolution, but with everything that happened in 2012, I need to find some sort of peace with the changes. I think that's the only way I'll be able to have a stellar 2013.

So there are my resolutions. What's on your list?

Writing goals are high on my list, both blog and manuscript. I'm hoping a new much more portable computer helps.

I've noticed, in life, the right tools make difficult tasks easier. Do you have Scrivener yet? If not, get it. It's made writing a whole lot easier for me.
