My heart is a little bruised at the moment.
Don't worry. I'll be fine.
In the meantime, I've been engaging in that age old system of recovery: retail therapy.
At this point, it might be best if I start going back to my actual therapist because the retail version is getting a bit pricey.
It started with the Vitamix.
I have been coveting one from afar for the last year. When Rachel bought hers, I thought it was a colossal waste of money. After all, it's just an overpriced blender.
Then I borrowed Anne's.
And fell into kitchen appliance lust.
But I could never justify the expense. Those suckers are pricey.
When I suddenly found myself in possession of a few gift cards, a 20% off coupon, and some extra cash that had been earmarked for gas and travel expenses, I decided to go for it. I loaded up the kids, went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and came home with a base model Vitamix.
We've since spent the equivalent a small nation's budget on fresh and frozen fruit to make our once/twice/sometimes trice a day smoothies.
I no longer have to be concerned about my children's fruit and veggie intake. It's covered.

Still rubbing the upper left quadrant of my chest, I went on to use gift cards to buy a new food processor. Not just any food processor, but a seven cup, four blade Cuisnart that is so complicated, I actually had to read the directions.
Twice.
Still, it's far better than my old Hamilton Beach model which had an issue opening up that could only be resolved by banging the side of my hand against it.
Now let's just hope it helps me make my pie crust for Saturday's Supper Club. Pie is not my friend.
I wonder if they make a small kitchen appliance for creating perfect pie crust every time...

Ohhh I'm so glad that you have a Vitamix!! We really don't use ours to its potential at all yet, but we do get a lot of smoothies at least! lol. Soups and stews and sauces and peanut/almond butter are all on the list at some point soon, also.

We LOVE it.
