One Thousand and Counting

This is my 1,000th post since moving to blogger in 2008.

One thousand bits of humor and thoughts. One thousand pieces of me sprawled across the internet. One thousand ideas shared with whomever happens upon my little blog. One thousand stories that were written in good times, bad times and ugly times.

One thousand posts.

Wow.

I thought very hard about what to do for my millennial post. Milestones and I have a very strong connection. I crave them, honor them, celebrate them.

I look at my first post, well my second actually, and think of all that I've shared since. I've had a few bad ideas, written a tiny bit of poetry, pretended to be a craft blogger and once even pretended to be movie reviewer.

I've read and heard speakers tell bloggers that to be successful, they must find their niche. Well, I've never found mine. My blog is still a hodgepodge of crafts and cooking. It's still a place where I can share a funny story or a sad one. It's a spot where I create characters, write memories and tell stories.

As I read every post I've written over the last few years, one thing became clear...

My blog is me: a muddle mash up of the shallow and the deep; a little bit country and a little rock and roll. I tell bad jokes, have a strong nerdy side, love my children and family, have a fascination with infomercials, and can't dress myself.

When I started blogging, I drew a line in the sand. I decided that I'd write about my life, but would make sure that I never let people see my vulnerable side. It was the only way to make the open internet safe.

Now I realize that I've put so much of myself out there, it's silly to keep hiding behind a glass wall.

So what are the plans for the next 1000 posts?

Second verse, same as the first. With, perhaps, a bit more.

Now...I have to ask...do you have any favorite posts? Share. It'll make me grin.

my favorite post? gosh! I read through all your links... omg - I can't name one that's more outstanding than another. Your stories are seriously funny, at times very tender & painful to read, yet you bounce back, put on your happy face & create another story to make your readers coming back!

I'm kind-of new here . . . but you've consistently made me laugh for the past 6-months-or-so.  What's kept me coming back is the unadulterated "Mandy" that you get . . . there's bad shit happening in your life, and you let us know it.  There's great stuff happening, too, and you let us know that.

And you sing karaoke.

Thank you for posting to some of your favorites from years past . . . jeez, "years past," I'm not sure I can even pretend to comprehend years worth of posts....congratulations on a millennium!

Wow...that's a whole lot of posts!  Congrats.  I like the inspiration; mine is a bit of a hodge-podge, too, sometimes funny, sometimes serious but one thing's for sure...it's probably not "niche" enough to hit the big time.  Good to know I might at least stick around and pick up a decent following though.  Can't wait to see what your next thousand bring:)

At some point us hodgepodge bloggers will be our own niche. ;)

Thanks, friend!

Singing karaoke makes up for everything. :)

It's weird. People keep telling me I'm a humor blogger, yet when I try to be funny, it falls flat. I think I must just be a big dork. Which is always funny.

Thanks for reading. :)

Congrats on 1000!!!!
I'm with you, hodgepodge will be a well known niche!
My favorite post is when you took me on a tour of your garden! I am so jealous! Compared to my slum garden, yours was beautiful Beverly Hills!
And I can wait for the next 1000, let's hope somewhere in there is a Napa trip and a Brownie bake off!!!! =)
