There's a Potty Going On

This morning, our little miss tore off her diaper and ran through the house giggling at her nakedness.
And at us chasing after her.

Finally giving up our pursuit of the bare bottomed girl, we went about our normal morning activities - Chad making breakfast, Joseph playing with Legos and me trying desperately to wake up enough to accurately put on mascara. A few minutes went by and I heard a scrape. A suspicious scrape coming from the front bathroom.

Walking to investigate, we discovered Elizabeth pulling out the little potty chair we keep in the corner for subliminal training messages. She carried it across the hall and into Joseph's bedroom where she plopped down on it. Backwards.

Seconds passed and we heard the unmistakable sound of someone using the potty. Looking at us with a grin, she said, "I pee!"

We burst into applause, congratulations and much merry making. She stood up and went to carry her seat back into the bathroom. Chad intercepted. "I'll do it."

"No! I do."

"That's okay. It's Daddy's job."

"No! My job."

"Daddy's job."

The two of them stared at each other for a moment, with Elizabeth finally relenting enough to let Chad take the seat. While he cleaned up, Joseph and I continued to cheer and pat her back and give her high fives.

I hope this isn't a fluke. Because if it isn't, not only will Miss Independent be taking care of my least favorite stage - potty training - but we'll be that much closer to life with no diapers. A life we had the barest glimpse of the four months before Elizabeth was born.

Do you hear the angel chorus?

I guess I was potty trained like this, "Macey, do you wanna wear these pretty big girl panties?" I said yep and that was that. LOL

What a big girl. I like that she took the toilet into her brother's room to pee.

How exciting! I miss nothing about diapers, not a thing. I'm going on almost a month of it, and it's just heavenly.

Bless her heart.

That is awesome! I am fighting everyday with my son about going on the potty. I hate potty training.

Can I send Maddy to play at your house for say a MONTH? This is totally awesome!
And wow, is she cute.
Also: the only time I've gotten Mad to use the potty: she INSISTS on doing the post potty dump into the toilet. Funny.

4) we had just under a year of no diapers (not including pull ups) before #3 showed up. His wife will probably end up potty training him some day.

I'm so excited for you and a diaper-free life! We're in the midst of training our 3-year-old (second week) and it's been easier than I thought, but not easy.

I'm so happy for you and JEALOUS too, because my 3yr old sons think of the potty as a novelty item.

I do, I do hear the angel chorus.....AHHHHHH!!!!

Well, so far, it's more of a hit and miss sort of thing. Literally. But she's getting there!

It cannot be worse than potty training a boy. As a mom. Without similar plumbing. Hmm..I'm seing a Momtastic post in that.

4) HAHAHAHAH!

Well, so far, we have the score of:

Potty Chair 2
Sidewalk 3
Carpet 4

I think we're on a losing streak.

Those independent little women!

I thought you were going to have her trained by the time we got home.

Potty training a boy stinks. Big time.

Hooray for her! I'm totally giving you a virtual high five right now, if you couldn't tell. ;)

Sadly it hasn't happened since. I must have jinxed it. *sigh*
