My dear friend Tara is expecting a little boy in a few short weeks.
Together with Sarah and Michelle, and cupcake help from Casey, we threw a citrus themed baby shower that turned out beautifully.
Sarah's home was festooned with citrus colored poofs, balloons, a banner and plenty of freshly sliced oranges, lemons and limes.
I've mentioned, about three million times, that I've somehow fallen in with a group of foodies. And oh how I love them. Not just because they feed me well, but because they shrug off the accolades and offer you another vanilla soaked apple and cheese tea sandwich.
I kid you not.
The rest of the menu included chicken salad, brie with fig jam and green apple and cucumber with herbed Chevre tea sandwiches, fresh fruit with an orange mint yogurt sauce and homemade almond biscotti.
Casey delivered her cupcakes - tiny decadent lemony confections dipped in white chocolate.
In the midst of a move, Michelle also made adorable citrus soap prizes for the ridiculously funny games Sarah came up with.
Anne, unable to attend in person, created a diaper wreath to welcome the guests and a fun little pail of good wishes.
We all sat and ooh'd and aww'd over the tiny blue outfits, dinosaur-covered pajamas and the itty bitty hats and blankets. We ate and laughed and played. We shared stories of births and breastfeeding and sleepless nights. And we showered Tara with love and support.
Congratulations M Family. I cannot wait to meet your bundle of baby boy.
On a side note, my weekly column at Momtastic is up. Today's topic? The Dinner Table Battlefield. Go leave a little Mandyland love if you have a minute.

I never thought of a citrus themed party - but now I'm aching to steal your idea!
Um, are they for hire? I'm pretty sure mine will be nothing like this.
I just want to lick the screen. YUM!
I loved everything about this shower idea, what a fun SPRING/SUMMER thing to do. Everything is gorgeous, so glad she had such a beautiful way to celebrate her pregnancy. WOW.
A truly beautiful shower!
WHAT is this??? "vanilla soaked apple and cheese tea sandwich" amazing amazing amazing sounding goodness???
And what a unique idea for a shower!! I LOVE IT! ;)
Fantastic! I approve. Very much.
Ok. This is quite possibly the cutest theme for a baby shower I have EVER seen!
I am in love.
So original, springy, forward, fresh!
Great job.
Great pics!
Love love love.
I know I was eating the whole time, but had I known you were going to post a picture, I would have stopped for a couple minutes!! Thank you so much for such an amazing shower!! I am blessed beyond belief to have such amazing friends.
First off, I ADORE that picture. It's so cute and totally looks like you're having fun.
Second of all, we're all blessed having you in our lives. (Don't mind me as I speak for every person there. lol)
Once we got rolling with it, it was so EASY too. Those are the hot colors right now and totally easy to find. :)
I should get a "Approved by She Who Suggests Fantastic Party Ideas" button.
It was DIVINE. Seriously. I have no idea how she did it, but she basically made something as simple as a tea sandwhich taste like heaven.
I'll beg for the recipes and share.
WIth the most fun people. ;)
I'm so glad too! It was so much fun to deviate from the typical blue boy shower.
I swear half the time I'm with these women, I eat things like this. One time? It was vanilla infused olive oil drizzled over strawberries.
Another? Homemade FENNEL ice cream. *swoon*
Needless to say, my box of Keeblers comes back full.
Steal away! You may have to find a pregnant lady first. Put an ad on Craigslist.
What an adorable theme!! I've never been to a baby shower with a theme as cute as that!!!! You guys are amazing. And your friend is beautiful! Congratulations;)
I LOVE the theme and the food looks amazing! I'm so sorry to have missed it...and Tara, you look fabulous! :-)
So pretty!! You could have a second - I mean a third - career here!
Fun! Not sure how I missed this earlier and stumbled upon it via Pinterest - I didn't see any pictures of the party, so this was fun to look at now that Baby M is almost 1!
