In related news, Chad has become addicted to a video game. A Star Wars video game.
I know. This sort of shift of the universe will take some adjusting.
For those who are new to Mandyland, Chad is not, in any way, shape or form a sci-fi guy. He'd rather watch an Indie film, with subtitles, than the latest action blockbuster. I drag him moaning and groaning to superhero flicks and have to bribe him to watch anything that even hints at science fiction.
He has not seen Avatar.
I know! I'll pause until you finish gasping.
Are you sitting down? Okay...he's also never seen...
Star Trek.
No, no. Don't worry! He watched the newest version, but the original TV show? The original movies? The television spin-offs? Not a one.
He doesn't know what Tribbles are. He doesn't understand when I say "Resistance is futile."
Boggles the mind, doesn't it?
He's never seen Episodes I, II, III or the last reinvention of Superman.
He didn't watch X-Files.
Which means he doesn't get it when I say he's Scully to my Mulder. Which, now that I think of it, makes it even more true.
So, with all this in mind, the fact that he has actually become hooked on a video game and that video game is Lego Star Wars, is enough to make me question reality. He and Joseph have been playing for days. Hours each day. I'm trying to ignore the mother in me who is whispering cautionary tidbits about screen time limits. I'm just in awe that the man who, four days ago, didn't know a z button from a bobbin is now shouting out to Joseph, "Use the Force, Joe! You've got to grab Hans and go!"
I'm also looking at him in consternation while I sit here on my computer and he stands in front of the TV, waving his arms wildly and letting out a "Got it!" every now and again.
Because Joseph's in bed. And Chad's missing a basketball game.

I will admit, I was an x-file diehard. My husband doesnt get the sexual tension between those two nor a tv classic when it hits him in the face ;)
I've never seen Star Trek either.
But X-Files? I'm all over that like cancer man on a cigarette.
Um, star wars lego? that a kid is not also playing? Tell him to come over to the dark side of call of duty. Do you think he'd get the "dark side" reference?
It sounds addicting. I will need to keep my husband away from it until he finishes the taxes.
I'm...not much of a sci-fi person except for Star Wars, which I love. So I still get it...but only kinda. ;-)
I've never realized how "Sci-Fi-y" I am. Not only do I know what a Tribble is, I still have naughty dreams about Fox Mulder.

LOVED Mulder. I had a total crush on him. Oh, who am I kidding? I still watch old episodes and sigh.
Chad was the first guy I dated who wasn't a total sci-fi nerd. Still confuses me how we ended up together. lol
Apparently it is. Personally, I can't play it. It has that weird 3D thing going on that makes me motion sick.
He may actually get the reference now that he's playing a Star Wars game...
Ack! Girl! Go rent it NOW. I'm going to do you a favor and tell you to rent the latest one with Chris Pine as Kirk. Yum.
It was the best...the almost kisses? The little "moments". LOVED it.
I admit that I've never seen Avatar, anything Star Trek related other than the newest movie, or the latest reinvention of Superman.
Now, in my defense I have seen the other movies you listed!!

Don't you remember "The Trouble with Tribbles"? It was an original Star Trek episode and Tribbles are little fur balls that multiply at an alarming rate. It was classic. :)
My kids are both addicted to lego star wars games, and i do find myself getting a little bit over invovled...I swear they put crack in the keyboard.
Lol! My non-gaming, non Avatar watching husband is suddenly addicted to the game "brick breaker." If this is his version of a midlife crisis, then I'll take it.

Joseph and Chad are playing on the Wii. I get motion sick if I watch, which is why Chad got hooked. Joseph needed someone to play with and I couldn't look at the screen. lol

How could you NOT love X-Files. Serious swoon. I have to admit, though, I was more of an "X-Files" girl than the conspiracy episodes.
I go for pretty much any sci-fi/fantasy/supernatural etc. Although, I have to admit I haven't see the ones you mentioned.

Not just the games! Our house has been invaded by Legos of all shapes, sizes and forms. From games to books to actual Legos, we can't escape them.
We'll just blame the Legos. lol

Love it! This is a sci fi house. Really--reality is so over rated :-). The Lego video games (actually ALL things Lego) are really big with my kids.

Use the force!! I love it. I've been afraid to bring any kind of gaming console in our house for this very reason. My husband LOVES games and I know that he and the boys would never do anything else. We already have a bit of a problem with TV watching. I think we may need to go on a TV sabbatical to get back in tune with the fact that there are other fun things to do besides watch SpongeBob. But honestly, I secretly wish we could have some games. They really are so much fun. We just have a problem with self control.
