There's a woman who comments on my blog and Facebook page with great regularity. Her name is Maxine Smith and she's my mom.
Her real name, however is neither Maxine nor Smith.
"I don't get it, Mom."
"I don't want people to find me."
"But," I pause patiently and with great dramatic effect, "that's kind of the point of Facebook."
Now, this would all make more sense if my mother was, say a CIA agent. Or in the Witness Protection Program. Or even if she was in her 70's and veering towards senility.
But she's a young, computer-savvy, modern gal who forced me, to get a Facebook page and Blogger account.
Because she didn't want to bother with creating a LiveJournal account.
And I didn't want to show her.
Because then she's see all those "my mother is driving me crazy" posts.
So I just shrug it off and remember, if it weren't for her and my dad's crazy antics, I'd never have grown into the woman I am now. The woman who has one foot not quite in reality and the other firmly planted amongst Excel spreadsheets.
Happy birthday, Maxine. Maybe this is the year you come out of hiding.

Thank you sweetie...I think it is because I am actually Maxine Smith at heart...I might have been switch at birth and that is who I am. Or maybe I have a split personnality..or is it that Maxine is my alter ego and she gets away with saying whatever the hell she wants. Whatever the reason, she is part of me and will continue to live on, even past my time on this earth...;O) love you sweetie
I love this, Happy Birthday Maxine! My mom comments as "Nana" even when she visits other blogs I link to from mine, not quite as inconspicuous.
Thank you..
See? My mother will forever love you now.
Be scared. Be very, very scared.
On the other hand, it means that she'll "like" and "share" and read all your posts too. lol
Great minds usually think alike. ;)
That cracks me up!
