Referring URL's

Apparently, there's a seamy side to Mandyland...

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with my stats.  I love seeing who's visiting Mandyland and then visiting their blogs by way of their referring URL. (That makes me a cyber stalker.) As a result, I pretty much "know" all of my referring URL's.

Then, recently, I started seeing two blogs pop up more and more often.  Curious, I opened them.

I was not prepared for what opened up on my screen.

It was...

Okay...so that I don't get a lot of weird hits, let's just say it rhymed with horn and started with a "p".  We'll call it qorn.  And it wasn't of the hetero variety.

After turning 23 shades of red (Chad counted) I frantically tried to close the window before Joseph and Elizabeth decided to see what was making Daddy laugh so hard and Mommy open and close her mouth like a fish.

After my face mellowed into a dull pink, I asked Chad, "Why on earth are they referring to my site?"

"Maybe they want some recipes or a craft project."

"That's so...I mean, you're totally stereotyping."

"What else could it possibly be? I'm telling you.  Crafting and cooking."

I puzzled over it for a couple of weeks.  Then, while performing a google search for Mandyland - because I'm really obsessed - I discovered that there's another Mandyland.  Run by a triple X qorn star.

I'm a horrible person, because my initial reaction was laughter.  In my mind, I'm picturing all of these guys looking for the Seamy Mandyland finding my tutorial for making draw string bags.

But then, the laughter stopped as I pictured you, dear readers, doing a web search for Mandyland and discovering something that isn't so...PG.  I'm pretty sure there are a couple of other readers who wouldn't bat an eye. But still!

So here's the question, kids...

Knowing that there's a qorn site out there with the same name, is it time to re-vamp Mandyland?  Change the name a bit?

Or is it time for me to encourage all my readers to become followers?

What do you think?

I don't have a suggestion but I am cracking up. I am sure that anything you choose could be misconstrued eventually.

This is exactly why you need to embed that code I emailed you so the people looking for the qorn cant steal your pictures and have a Photo Shop field day. Ew.

Hi-Lar-Ious!! Acutally I usually google you and yes at first, I went to a few different sites, no XXX though :) Don't change the name!

Oh that makes me giggle. I can't decide whether you should change your name or start crocheting another kind of hat. Haha

Too funny! Have you installed Google Analytics to see what people are searching for when they land on your blog? That is always shall we say, interesting...

I see what you did there...

I say change it if you wanted to anyway, but who cares if qorn aficionados are coming to your site? Maybe they'll get some good tips on how to get their loaves to rise.

@Jen Totally installing that code tonight.

@Trina You WOULD think it's funny. :D

@Alex Well...I DID just learn to make tassles for "hats". Hmmm...

@Yuliya Oh Lord. I'm almost afraid to look. My poor, innocent blog!

Too funny! Would love to know how you stalk your readers so well. I barely know how to keep up with how many people are coming to my site, let alone who they are or how I find them! I'm such a newbie its embarrassing.
And Jenhiatt what kind of code can keep your pictures from being stolen; that might be nice!

On the other hand, maybe they're looking to find out how to relax the pucker on the drawstring bags they'll be packing their fudge in for Christmas.

Hmm, I think you should encourage people to become followers, subscribers, etc. That way they are definitely coming to the right place.

Bwahahahahaa!!! You know, because of the title of my blog, I get a lot of people searching for porn. Like I get hits from people who've search for coolwhip + hot chicks and coolwhip + vagina. Probably my tendency to talk about vaginas a lot doesn't help much either. I say stick with what you got!! I love the title of your blog and I'm pretty sure those looking for you will know they've gone to the wrong place if they end up at the OTHER mandyland. Heehee.

OMG that's amazingly awesome and hilarious! Why change the name?? You ARE getting traffic from it right? Who knows, maybe you'll save someone from the qorn and inspire them to make a really pretty drawstring bag instead! Much better use of time, really.

Too funny!! But on the bright side, maybe the qorn seekers have Alexa toolbars? heehee =)

@Abbie - Blogger has a Stats tab that allows you to see your top referring URL's. Simply click and stalk.

@Zannie - TOO MUCH! lol

@Kristi - If that isn't encouragement to become a follower, I don't know what is!

@Cool Whip Mom - I'm DYING! Never thought of the whole "cool whip" angle in word searches. Awesome. lol

@Lindsay - And so much better for the environment!

@Ashley - Now THAT'S a silver lining I hadn't even though of...
