Yo Yo Dress

I have 101 craft/sewing projects that are floating around in my head courtesy of one of my new fave blogs Make it and Love it.  This woman is insane.  Her crafts are of the "why didn't I think of that" variety.  Inexpensive materials.  Simple instructions.  Clear pictures.  Love.  Love.  Love.

As much as I want to get my hands on some fabric and craft, I have  a garden that calls to me every spare moment, fruit that needs to be jammed or canned, a house that I need to use a snow shovel to clear and, of course, two small children.  This leaves the tiny craftinista portion of me very, very sad.

Then my sister came to the rescue...

Becky came over yesterday to give me a hand in sewing my first dress.  I've had the pattern for a few weeks now, but lacked the confidence to pull it off.  A dress is not a drawstring bag.  You have to hem and finish and add things like snaps and buttons.

With her help, Elizabeth now has a pretty little one-of-a-kind dress to wear to her cousin's baptism.  And those sweet little red "flowers"?  They're called yo-yo's and you can learn how to make them here.
