By the time Saturday evening came, Joseph was over the whole idea of trick-or-treating. We told him that was fine and that we'd just give him a bath. Knowing that bedtime always follows bathtime, he quickly changed his mind and ran to get his costume.
Elizabeth adamantly refused to wear her costume. Her pitiful little cries broke my heart, so, like the day before, she wore a onesie and socks on her first official trick-or-treat expedition.
Walking along the sidewalk, kicking brightly colored leaves, racing to the neighbor's door...it was all reminiscent of the previous year. One big differnce was Joseph's confidence - and his ad lib. When someone opened the door, he sang out, "Trick or treat!" and then, for good measure, added, "Boo!"
We went to perhaps a half dozen homes before Elizabeth decided she wanted to eat. I left the group to continue without me.
Side note: I was pleased to discover that every single house had the "good" candy.
Finally, tired, hyped up on excitement and ready to crash out, the kids came home.
It was a wonderful Halloween.
Oh and we did finally get Elizabeth in her costume for 2.5 seconds to take a couple pictures. After mulling it over, I decided to get her a sweet pea costume. Fitting for a gardener.
