Visitors

It's quiet. Well as quiet as it can be with the sounds of Chad scrubbing the shower and Joseph asking, "Can I eat this one?!" every time he picks up a new piece of popcorn. (We told him he shouldn't eat the kernels so now he asks if each piece of popcorn is a kernel.) By the way, there are a lot of kernels in a bag of popcorn.

Mom left at noon. Becky left at four. This concludes the "visiting" portion of Elizabeth's first month.

Danielle came over Sunday after we were released from the hospital. With Chad and Joseph at his parents', it was an oasis of calm and girl time. We chatted. We ate burgers. We ate chocolate chip cookies. We talked. And talked. And talked. It was exactly what the doctor had ordered.

Throughout that first week and weekend, we visited with more friends and family as they dropped by to see Miss Elizabeth. Then, on Monday, Mom came to stay for the week, offering a much-needed second set of arms.

We spent the week not doing much of anything. Chad and I had a brief date night at the grocery store.

Side note: Bliss is grocery shopping without a three-year-old in tow.

Mom and I hit up Target for a few vital items. We drove into SLO for my follow up doctor's appointment.

Side note: I'm healing beautifully. Blood pressure is a bit high, but that's to be expected considering how tired I've been. The headaches I've been having are also to be expected since I'm nursing.

We followed that appointment with a stop by my office to show off my beautiful children. I need to take a moment to say, yet again, that I adore my co-workers. They are the most amazing group of people. So often, the eldest child is pretty much ignored when a baby enters the building. Not so with this group! Joseph was fed m&m's, got to wear a cheese hat (don't ask) and came home with a book on trains. They ooo'd and aww'd over him as much as they did over his little sister.

So now we're on our on, for the most part. We have a great support network surrounding us, but no one to get up with Elizabeth at six in the morning so we can get an extra few hours of sleep. We're going to miss you, Mom!
