Last Saturday, after the Great Kite Cupcake Caper, we headed to Barney Schwartz Park for the kite fest and to celebrate Joseph's THIRD birthday.
Dave had warned us the night before to expect pretty hot weather. I kept hoping that he would be wrong and the mercury would stablize right around a comfortable 78. Of all the times for him to be right!
We unloaded the car in the blistering sun while the wind whipped around us. Joseph and Benny couldn't wait to get their kites up in the air. Fifteen minutes later, they got their wish as Big Bird and Elmo looked down upon them.
I was so glad we kept it low-key this year: hot dogs, kites, cupcakes, family and a close friend. By the end of the afternoon, I felt like I'd been out at the lake all day instead of at a park for a couple hours. I shudder to think how much more exhausted I'd have been if I'd had a large group to hostess.
I took a ton of pictures, but having having technical difficulties with the slide show programs I generally use. (Part of the reason why this post is taking so long.) I'm going to keep this short and let a couple of my favorite photos do the talking.
