Mom drove down from Tehachapi on Friday afternoon to spend the weekend. Sadly, I forgot to take out my camera all weekend. A serious oversight.
Early Saturday, we went to Farmers' Market in Templeton to pick up some strawberries. I swear, Joseph is half strawberry. (Hmmm...maybe that's where he gets his red hair?) We bought a 3-pack which he devoured in less than 24 hours. Seriously loves his berries.
While there, we stopped at a booth offering fresh oysters for a really good price. (Who knew we had a local oyster farm?) Too bad I can't stand the things, but Mom loves them. She picked up a dozen and then spoke to the owner of the farm. He gave us a card and offered to meet me at the docks any time so I can get super fresh oysters and overnight them to Mom.
Side note: Mom and I both liked Oyster Man. He was cute, nice and good with Joseph. I have two single sisters. Wonder if he's married...Hmmmm...
After Farmers, we made a quick stop at Target and OSH for gardening supplies then went home to meet Becky, Michael, Rachel and Benny for an afternoon of visiting. When they left, Mom and I worked a bit on the yard - yes, she helped me thin my poor carrots, more on that later - then got ready for dinner at The Galley, after which we went to Rachel's house to hang out with some of her friends.
Side note: While at dinner, I made the disturbing discovery that my sisters - my own flesh and blood! - don't read my blog. They were quite unapologetic about it too. How rude! It also means that I need to drop my readership numbers. I think I'm down to 4?
Mom left early Sunday. Overall, it was a really good visit. After all...I got my carrots thinned and didn't have to participate in the plant death I've been dreading.
A full gardening post will be following. And guess what? I have pictures. Oh yes. Not only will you read about my peas and carrots, you will see their green little selves. Isn't the suspense just killing you?
