Our doctor's visit was much more productive today than it was yesterday. Joseph's doctor, after listening very intently to his little lungs, diagnosed him with pneumonia. The only question was whether it was viral or bacterial. We had to go get chest x-rays to find out.
We went across the way to the imaging center where we spent a torturous forty minutes waiting for our name to be called. Joseph fell asleep in my arms, exhausted after his rough night. Chad sat next to me reading Sports Illustrated and tapping his foot. I read a very interesting article in Time about the rise in C-sections. I was just getting to the article about Kate Winslet's Oscar win, when Joseph started coughing. (Immediately, the ladies sitting behind us moved outside.) The coughing fit wracked his little body. I stood up and walked outside hoping the cooler air would help. He coughed and coughed until he finally threw up. Interestingly enough, that was when the nurses called our name.
After an agonizing x-ray session - I waited outside and could only hear Joseph's screams of frustration - we went home and took naps. The doctor called an hour into our naps to let us know that Joseph had viral pneumonia. Oh and the redness the other doctor noticed in his ear? It had turned into a full-blown ear infection.
We picked up a couple of prescriptions, and finally, after two days of madness, were able to get some rest. Joseph's fever is down to a much more manageable 100.1.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel leading out of Zombieland!
