Beef and Cabbage

I bought all the ingredients to make a vegetarian Irish stew. Really, it's not much different than veggie soup - I just added cabbage. Anyhow...I forgot to throw it in the crock pot, so I called Chad on my way to work to ask him to do just that - throw the broth, potatoes, onion, carrots, celery and cabbage in the crock pot. That's it. A couple of hours later, I got a phone call.

"Okay...I'm on my break now. What should I season this with?"

"Just throw a couple of bay leaves and some salt and pepper. I'll add whatever else it seems to need this afternoon."

"Okay. Hey! Should I have done something with the meat?"

"What meat?"

"The stuff that was in the freezer."

"You mean the pot roast?"

"Yeah. Should I have seasoned it?"

"You put a pot roast in the soup?"

"Don't worry, baby. I've got it under control."

I got home expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised to find that it actually turned out really yummy. The meat was tender and well done, the soup flavorful and in need of just a bit of salt. It may have sounded odd when he told me, but it sure tasted good.
