I have so much to post, but first....sprouts!
As soon as we got home, I went outside to check on my plant babies. The lettuce and spinach continue to pop up, the garlic and onions are looking very respectable, the raspberry is sprouting green buds and...most exciting...my peas and carrots have finally made an appearance!
I was a bit worried considering how cold it's been, but there they were...tiny little sprout popping their little heads above the earth.
The only sad part of this whole process is knowing that in a few short weeks, I have to pick half of my seedlings for death. Thinning is always difficult for me. Fine. Thinning is impossible for me. (Hence the mutant carrots.)
I must harden myself against intentional plant death for the health of the other plants. (Most of my plant death is usually unintentional.)
In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy all the green growing things in my garden.

I've got lots of spinach coming up now too, and a handful of the 30 pea plants I planted (along a 5 foot wide trellis...). No carrots yet for me, and the onions I planted from seed have yet to show their faces. What do lettuce sprouts look like? I planted lettuce in an area very prone to weeds and I have no idea how to identify them!
Lettuce sprouts look a lot like...weeds. :D Actually, the kind of look like grass. Two split little green leaves. Unexpected actually. The spinach looks like...well, spinach. So I thought the lettuce would be wider or something.
