We went to Sand Canyon to visit my parents over the weekend. I've yet to download pictures, but will be sure to post when I do.
Early afternoon on Saturday, Mom and I went through her books to see if there were any I hadn't read. I found a few in a separate box and grabbed them.
"Actually, you can't have those yet. Your dad hasn't read them."
"Too bad," I said as I read the back of one novel. "This one looks pretty good." I flipped through the pages and noted it was a bit longer than your average romance novel. "Hmmm...I think I'll start it today and see if I can get it done before we leave." At that point, my dad piped up from the other room.
"You're not taking it if you don't finish!"
"Then I'll just have to finish it."
"I'll bet you ten bucks you don't get it done before you leave."
"Deal!" I sat down in front of the fire and started to read. A couple hours (and many interruptions later), I decided to sit outside. As I left the house, Dad called out, "Do you even have ten dollars on you?"
"I'm not going to need it, old man. Now stop trying to interrupt."
Chad looked over, "That was a sucker bet, Ray."
Sure enough, even though I didn't really get to sit and read for more than a few hours at a time, I finished up at 10:00 that night. I put the book next to dad where he was sleeping. The next morning, I was the proud winner of a ten dollar bill.
