I was just talking to my mom and apparently Dad's starting reading her romance novels. He especially likes Johanna Lindsey's "Mallory" series and Linda Lael Miller's "Stone Creek" series.
While I'm a huge lover of romance novels, I can't help but be a bit boggled at the thought of my dad reading them. Not that he's not a reader. On the contrary, my earliest memories of both of my parents include them holding a book. My mom standing in front of the fireplace with a romance in one hand, her coffee on the mantle. My dad in his chair, coffee on the arm, book in hand. In fact, during Dad's nomad days, he traveled with two suitcases. One with clothes, the other filled with books. His particular favorites are Westerns and Sci-fi. I can sort of understand the Stone Creek series, maybe. After all, they're Westerns of a sort. But the Mallory books are Regency Era romance novels.
While I'm all for men reading romance novels and have tried in vain to get Chad to read a couple that I found extremely good, I still can't get over the picture of my dad reading them. Maybe if you had a picture of my dad, you could see how funny it is.
I guess it just goes to show that he's a man of many interests. Guns, huntin', fishin', poker playin', eatin', gold minin' and now romance book readin'.
Then again, why should a particular genre be gender specific? A good book is a good book.

He is a man who is happy with himself, hence forth doesn't need to buy into gender specific.
