I'm going to be starting a new regular feature in Mandyland called "President Who?"
I was listening to Bill Bryson on the way back from Fresno talking about the lack of acknowledgement some of our Presidents receive. We've had 43 so far, and I don't know about you, but I'd be hard pressed to name even half. This is a sad state of affairs. So, in order to educate myself, I'll be blogging a little bit about each Prez. My goal is to accomplish my mission by President's Day.
If you have any information about any of the men I write about, feel free to include it. Also, if you have any information that contradicts my writings...well, then. Keep it to yourself. Come on. You know I'm kidding. Post it!
Wow. Mandyland's becoming quite exciting. (This is to be read with tongue firmly in cheek.)
Side note: Did you notice my usage of the word "quite"? This is what happens when I listen to an author who lived in Britain for 20 years read his book for two hours. I have an odd habit of picking up the vernacular of whomever I listen to. (I also have the bad habit of hanging my prepositions.) When we were traveling in the UK and listening to the radio, I'd hear myself start to say, "Why that sounds lovely!" or "I found the last stop quite interesting." When I'm around my friends I start to pick up their little vocabulary quirks. *sigh* If only foreign languages were so easy.

I do the Exact. Same. Thing. I even pick up accents from books. The thing is, except for vocabulary, it usually stays just in my head. I will think in a British accent, or a South-African one, or whatever, but it doesn't actually come out of my mouth. And I'm terrible at actually vocally mimicking them, most of the time. (I'm not too shabby at identifying ones I'm familiar with, though.)
Too funny! I can't do an accent to save my life. I try and my British comes out French/British/Southern. Seriously annoying.
