I tried natural peanut butter for the first time yesterday. Joseph's been on a PB & J kick. He usually has one or two for lunch every day. (Yes. The boy can throw down two sandwiches on top of his banana and milk.)
Side note: One of the things J likes about the sandwiches is that he gets to "help Mommy cook". I let him stand on his step stool and spread the peanut butter and jam, mash the two pieces of bread together and help me cut the sandwich into fourths.
Back to natural peanut butter. Since we were at Rachel's house yesterday, we had to use the PB that she had in her cupboard. I was actually kind of excited to try it. I recently discovered a recipe for peanut butter and thought it would be fun to make. It's been years since I ate something so revolting I had a hard time not spitting it out. I had to force myself to chew and swallow while pasting a smile on my face for Joseph's sake. "Mmmmm...yummmy!" I should win an Oscar for my performance.
Joseph was not quite so...tactful. His reaction? "NO peanut butter. Icky!!"
So...I'm adding natural peanut butter to the list of things best not eaten. It's going in at number 2, behind tofu hot dogs.
