One Bites the Dust

While I'm doing fairly well on my resolutions, I've already completely destroyed the one that would probably do me the most good.

Right smack in the middle of Resolution Go Time, insomnia struck with a vengeance.

Instead of hitting the hay at 10:30 like I resolved, I'm currently typing this out at 1:30. In the morning.

Yeah. It's a bit past my bedtime.

Partly to blame is Winter Break. The kids and I have been spending cozy mornings under the covers, sometimes dozing off until 9:00. Then, when Elizabeth needs a nap, I snuggle up next to her and cuddle away. In other words, I'm spending too much of my daylight hours asleep leaving up until the wee hours of the morning.

All this is a lead up to my new favorite, shameful addiction: Duck Dynasty.

I know!

On the surface, I have nothing in common with the Robertsons.

I don't duck hunt.

I don't hunt, period.

I don't care for camo.

I think long, wild beards are a total turn off.

And yet, they've sucked me in with their homespun wisdom, their humor, their family interactions, and their ability to sit down to dinner together even after they drive each other crazy. Or maybe it's the obvious love they have for each other. Whatever the case, I've found myself sitting up, burning the midnight oil and watching with utter fascination.

In other words, I've screwed up one of my Resolutions and place the blame squarely at the feet of the bearded Robertsons.
