I groan and burrow deeper. Feet sound in the hallway, running nimbly. Bright chatter assaults my ears. My brain sluggishly calculates one hand's worth of hours.
I shift first one leg and then the other over the side of the bed, sliding until I stand, putting a hand out to catch myself as I right myself.
I take a step and sigh.
Today's post was inspired by the Write on Edge prompt: conjure. I was supposed to conjure a sense, a feeling, an idea, something. So...what do you think I conjured?Oh. And I had to do it in 100 words. Eek!
I'm also over at Makes Fun today talking about eyelashes.
On top of THAT, go check out my friend and co-worker's post today at Silver Linings 4 Me. She's talking about my couches. And accent colors.

No matter how many times I do it or what is waiting for me outside of my bed, I hate that moment of shaking off sleep and leaving my comfortable little nest of blankets.
Great job. Now can I go back to bed? ;)
been there. all those same feelings, including the calculating of hours on one hand. *HUG* Great job with the prompt!
I can feel my sheets pulling, tugging me back toward them, even now, nearly 5 hours after I got up.
Drat.
Wonderful! You capture the moment effortlessly! I enjoy the descriptive setting, especially this line here: "Sleep pulls at me."
Making 'sleep' the subject, personifying the action so IT pulls at you... excellent :)
Bright chatter and hand counted hours... mommy sleep. It's amazing how few hours we actually need to function day after day!
This sounds like me every single morning. Only without the footsteps and bright chatter in the hall. There's none of that going on in my house!
Getting up, leaving the heaven of my bed (the comforter, the sheets that cradle me) is never ever easy. You brought that image to me in spades. I want to go and snuggle under a blanket now. :)
Oh you. I love sleep and my bed and cozy cover.
But mostly sleep.
Fabulous read, as always!
