I'm so excited to have a dear friend visiting Mandyland today.
The first time I read her blog, I laughed out loud. I laughed so much, I immediately began to read her archives, learning enough about the fabulous KLZ that I was in danger of getting slapped with a restraining order.
Whether she's flashing her family, causing a ruckus at dinner or making me cry with her gift to her father, I can't get enough. Which is why I'm so very, very happy she dropped by today.
And she hasn't made a single comment on the unmade beds and the dishes in the sink. She didn't even raise her eyebrows at the dust or the Legos strewn about.
Leave her a little Mandyland love and, if you haven't yet, go check out Taming Insanity.

It's no secret that my husband thinks he's funnier than me. He's not but he thinks he is. He's got his moments but ultimately the funny lies with me.
I mean, this is a man who after seeing The Hangover for the first time said "That was stupid. I could have written that myself. Hell, I've practically LIVED that weekend." Now, he thinks the movie is hilarious. Which is just to say: funny works strangely in this man's head.
Music also works strangely in this man's head. For instance, he can't stand Neil Diamond. Cannot stand him. He won't even "bah bah bah" to Sweet Caroline. Yet on more than one occasion I've caught him listening to Miley Cyrus un-ironically. He blames the Miley Cyrus on our son but I know better.
Mostly because our son was 3 weeks old when "Party in the USA" made its way into our house.
But his other musical choices belies the fact that it's him, not our toddler, who has the musical taste of a tween. He adores Katy Perry. I've heard her new single, ET, more times than its been played on the radio nationally. My husband has only owned the single a week but he's playing it on repeat. He spends an hour train ride home listening to the three minute ditty over and over - for an hour. Forty times a day, I hear Katy Perry's new single.
Lucky for my marriage, somehow that makes me angrier with Katy Perry than with my husband.
I was worried for awhile that this poor taste in music would be something that David passed on to our son. But last night, as we cuddled before bedtime, David turned "Nothing Compares 2 U" on. David smiled and bopped along.
Now, I don't have anything against the song necessarily. It's a perfectly fine song if you are 20 years old and have just had your heartbroken. It's an odd choice when you're a happily married 30-something man.
I eyed our son nervously, worried his penchant for dancing would take over.
Alex stopped, listened to the song for a moment. I cringed.
Then he turned to his father and clear as a bell he said, "Hockey. Football." Then Alex reached for the remote to put sports on the TV.
So, my son is a little bossy.
I'll take that over another musical earworm addict.

Hahaha.. That's soo cute!
Mwah! Thanks for your nice words.
So funny, I think I actually have the bad taste in music in our house and, since I'm home with the kids I am totally passing it on to them.
I would take bossy over bad taste in music any day.
LOL...bossy for sure!
but I am the one responsible for putting a song I love on repeat and when alone I do listen all the way home...Sorry ;)
what a great post!
I knew I liked that kid! Yes, my daughter tells her daddy to turn on the baseball game.
But I can't help but laugh when Daddy puts on Jason Mraz and Maddy starts shaking her boom boom like a Justin Timberlake backup dancer.
