April Showers

I found myself sitting at the computer today, teary-eyed and thick-throated. Chad walked by.

"Baby. Why do you keep reading those sad blogs?" he sighed.

"I'm not reading a blog," I said, wiping my eyes with the back of my hand.

"Then why are so you upset?"

"I'm not upset. My authors are coming out with new books at the end of the month and I'm just," I sniffed, "so happy."

"Ooookaaaay." Shaking his head, he patted me on the shoulder and walked away.

In less than thirty days, my favorite authors will be releasing new books. For a glorious three months, I'll have new books to read before the August Drought sets in.

It's not that I haven't read quite a few good books lately. I just finished re-reading Farm City and I'm listening to The Help on my commute. I'm making my way through Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and was delighted to discover a new writer who knows how to mix funny and sexy with When Harry Met Molly.

I'm reading blog posts by women who write amazing stories and promise me that novels are in the works. I'm reading gardening books, seed catalogues and re-reading a fun little book entitled Keep Chickens.

In other words, I should feel satiated with reading material.

But, for some reason, the thought of more makes me very happy.

Tearfully happy.

And yes, I realize I'm weird. I don't care.

Now, excuse me. I need to add a few more books to my wish list. Where did I put that box of tissue...

What's the best 5 books you've read recently?

Ugh, I really need a netflix for books for my iBooks app.

That was too many techy words in a row. Sigh.

You're husband's reaction to your tearing up over great new books coming out sounds like what my husband's reaction would be...with an uttered "Nutterbutters!" escaping him as he walked away. (Nutterbutters: what we call anyone in our family who is slightly off their rocker at the moment. And I'll admit it's one we all hear and say more times a day than we have fingers and toes. Shhhh... ;>)

Oh yea and just for the record, weird is a pretty great thing. Enjoy your new reading material!:>

Doh.

I just figured out TODAY how to leave comments. I have to click on the title. All this time, I thought you kept comments closed b/c you were trying to catch up.

So, I"ve been reading and not commenting.

DOH.

How come I never thought of this????

I cry when happy, too.

I am so happy with good stuff to read.

Yup, I tear up quite happily on a daily basis, though I think its PG hormones.

I hope you like it. I thought it was pretty cute.

It happens a lot. So much so that I wonder if I should put a little instruction widget up top.

I'm a mess at weddings, baby births, watching Hallmark commercials and when I get baby seedlings to grow.

You don't know to know how bad I was while pregnant.

Thank you. If we both cry maybe it won't look as strange.

It's only embarrassing if you never read them.

Weird as a teenager = bad

Weird as an adult = eccentric and interesting

Funny how that works out.

Kindred spirits.

It's because I've waited so long! Some of these authors only release a book a year. (tragedy)

Let's totally discuss The Help. I'm adoring it and am fighting the impulse to get a paper version. The audio is just so well done!

Oh this is a tough one....The BEST?

The Help is shaping up to be phenomenal.

Three Cups of Tea - Just started last night and it's really, really good so far.

The Argeneau series by Lyndsay Sands is pretty fun - especially for us vampire people. I re-read them all a few weeks ago and was reminded.

Farm City was great non-fiction AND there's the added bonus of her blog to see what's been going on since the book.
