Those Meddling Kids

Halloween is over for another year.

We carved pumpkins...

Discovered that Joseph is apparently ambidextrous, which bodes well for Chad's plans for him to be in the majors...

And we went trick or treating.

This year, Joseph wanted to be Shaggy.  Which meant, of course, that Elizabeth would need to be Daphne.  After a lot of thought, he assigned Velma to me and Fred to Chad.  Though that was a close one...Fred or Scooby?

We decided that we'd solve the Mystery of the Missing Scooby Doo.

My costume ended up looking more like a flashback to my days of Intense Nerdom and Chad, well, Chad looked more...well...let's just say, you had to smile when you saw him coming down the street.  Elizabeth rocked her little purple dress, tights and green scarf and Joseph had the easiest costume ever.

In hindsight, we should have thrown Chad's wig on Joseph.  When we played around at the end of the evening I was shocked at how much it "made" his costume.  Ah well...there's always next year.

We went to the Safe Halloween downtown and then lived dangerously by joining Rachel, Jeff and Benny for lasagna - with cream sauce! - and Street Style trick or treating.

Elizabeth surprised us with her determination to walk up to the doors - all by herself - and knock.  Of course, having Big Brother and Big Cousin with her seemed to help. And they were quick to explain that she couldn't say "trick or treat" and that she wasn't supposed to eat candy.

Jeepers!

Overall, we were quite happy to be the Mystery, Inc. gang, collecting candy, solving mysteries and going through a haunted house.

Zoinks!

Cute costumes! My toddler's cousin went as a football player and his mom, aunt and grandma were cheerleaders, his dad was the coach and his uncle was the ref. Talk about having an entourage!

LOVE that idea. I'll have to run it by "the crew" next year. :)

This was the first time we've dressed up as a family. We kinda liked it. :D

Katrina - No need to join the peanut gallery on facebook. :D It was the only light-ish wig they had. It's actually supposed to be a Donald Trump wig, but *shrug*

I am so glad I read these comments. I was thinking that I grew up with a TV that had the colors all wrong. Redhead Ken?

You guys still look awesome! ;)

You guys are ADORABLE!!! I love that you all dressed up. I haven't done that for FOREVER. In fact just this year Nino asked me why I wasn't dressing up and I couldn't come up with a good excuse except to say that I'm just lame like that. I think I might have to pump up the jam for next year. We might just have to steal your Scooby Doo gang idea too... That was too cute. Or maye we could do Spongebob and his pack of crazy. I bet Nino would love that too!

This was the first year we've dressed up in a theme. Usually, I wear a witch's hat and go as myself (hehehe) and Chad does odd things like putting on a too-small football jersey, wearing a cowboy hat and calling himself "Friday Night Lights".

I think we'll stick with the themes for the time being.

Jinkies! That is just too adorable! I love that the whole family joined in on the fun, we did that this year too (I was Princess Leia, Husband was Han Solo, Olivia was Yoda & Sophia was R2D2)

I think it really makes the kids have so much more fun IF they want the parents to get involved and the parents actually do it.

It's what good parents do ;o)
