BodyMedia FIT

As I type this, I'm nearly dancing in my chair.

Yesterday, in the mail, I received an early birthday "gift".  The amazing people at BodyMedia have outfitted me with the BodyMedia FIT.  I opened my box like a kid at Christmas.  Or a girl at her birthday party.  I read the instructions and then went online.

This program is amazing!

I filled out the profile, entered my weight goals and then received a groovy chart that told me how many calories I need to intake and how many I need to burn each day in order to reach my goal weight.  Even more fun, it gave me a goal date.

I'm wearing an armband that measures everything from the calories I burn just by typing on the computer to the steps I take to my sleep efficiency.

Hold on.  Sleep efficiency?  With a four-year-old who crawls into my bed and a baby who thinks I'm a 24-hour diner?  This ought to be interesting.

I download the information into their program along with what I ate during the day and it lets me know if I have a deficit or surplus of calories.  As long as I hit my calories burned and calories consumed, I should lose the two pounds a week that I've entered as my goal.

It's like fitness for dummies.

They also sent a display piece that will tell me, throughout the day, how many calories I've burned, how many steps I've taken and how far I still need to go to reach my daily goal.

Can you see now why I'm so excited that I'm literally burning double calories by dancing in my seat?

Let's be honest.  I've tried to diet again after having Elizabeth.  It just didn't work.  There was too much to track.  With everything floating in my brain on a daily basis, between the kids, the husband - who has never had a regular work schedule, and all the crazy, fun stuff we like to do, I just couldn't remember how many calories I ate.  I couldn't figure out if walking for 30 minutes was "moderate" or "easy".  I needed something to take care of all that.  A personal assistant, so to speak.  It looks like I've found it.

I'm so happy to take this baby for a test drive.  And I'm going to share my experience with you because, seriously, you need to take an occasional break from my threshing, winnowing, canning, sewing, gardening, crafting, reading, Twilight bashing posts.  Besides, I think Mandyland covers every blog niche out there - with the exception of politics and religion, because we like to play nice.  It's time to add a "health" tag.

Wait.  I already have a "health" tag.

Then it's about time I start using it!
