Well, it actually didn't. But it could have. Why?
Two weekends ago we went to church for the second time in six years. We were there to witness Sal's baptism in the Catholic Church.
Wait. I just lied. (See why lightening could have struck?)
It was the fourth time in six years that we went to church.
It's very intriguing and somewhat soothing for me to observe religious rites and traditions. Only one part made me a tad bit nervous...
The priest asked for all the children to walk to the bapstismal fount and swirl the waters for the Blessing of the Children. Sal's cousins, as well as older siblings of the half dozen other little ones being baptised, trooped to the front. From my vantage point behind the pool of water, I watched through my camera lense as a little red-headed boy marched his way to the front of the line of children.
Apparently he heard "swirl" and "water" and decided he wanted to get in on that action.
He took his role as Water Swirler very seriously.
After the ceremony, we headed back to the house for lunch and cake and Cousin Craziness. It was a long drive up and back, but we're glad we were able to make it.
