Snippets - Anthology

I've got a couple of snippet posts to share.  You know...posts too short or too banal to stand on their own.  And yes.  I used the word "banal".  If you think that's bad, the other day, I actually used the word "hastened".  Somebody's been reading Regency romance novels again.

Pickle Face

You know that picture that every parent takes?  The one taken immediately after subjecting their poor child to their first taste of pickle or lemon?

We don't have a picture like that of Elizabeth.

Not for lack of trying.

It seems my darling girl actually loves dill pickles.  She can't get enough of them.  She practically leaps at me to get a taste of their tangy goodness.

Oh Dear...

At dinner the other night, we had an interesting conversation...

"Baby Sister loves me," Joseph informed us while dipping his burrito in salsa.

"Yes. We know. And you love her too."

"Uh-huh. But just wait until she gets older," he said nonchalantly, taking a big bite.

"What do you mean?"

"It's a secret."

"You can tell us," Chad cajoled.

"No. It's a secret between 'Lizbef and ME!"

Why am I worried?

Teenage Four-Year-Old

"Joseph!  Go wash your hands so you can eat dinner."

"I already did!"

"Are you sure?  I didn't see you go in the bathroom."

"I did it when you were making dinner.  Du-uh!"

What I was thinking was, "Oh hell no." What I said was, "That's not a polite way to speak to Mommy."

Already with the "duh's"?
