Thursday was Rachel's bridal shower and bachelorette party, aka "The Beginning of Wedding Madness".
The shower was scheduled for 2:30 at Baileyana Winery. It was a gorgeous afternoon...warm, but not too hot with a nice breeze rustling through the vineyards. Mary unloaded bags of goodies and table clothes while I put favors on each girl's plate.
Side note: I love making "Survivor Kits". This particular kit was a bridal shower/bachelorette party kit. I included sunblock, small note pads for the shower games, chocolate, a travel brush/mirror, Alleve, Hello Kitty bandaids and Dentabrushes. Everything one might need for a day in the sun followed by a night on the town.
Rachel's friends Allison and Diana (Joseph's new loves) bought a bottle of wine and we all settled in for a fun afternoon of bocci ball, games and laughter. Becky had us each write down a favorite memory that we shared with Rachel. We had to guess who had written each memory. Rachel's friends learned a few new things about her childhood and we learned a few things about her adult life.
We followed the bridal shower with dinner at Buona Tavola. I ordered a delish pumpkin tortellini with sage cream sauce. Yumminess beyond belief.
Mary had asked each of us to bring a new pair of panties for Rachel that we thought represented us. Rachel then had to guess who brought which pair. It was a fun game that resulted in a lot of laughs and a few odd looks from our waiter. Mom and I left after dinner while the rest of the girls continued on for another few hours doing normal bachelorette party thing...dancing, drinking, dares. I saw the pictures and let's just say it looks like they had a blast.
