This weekend while I was at OSH, Chad and Joseph went to the "fishie store", known to the rest of the nation as "PetCo". Every time they go, Joseph begs for a turtle or a fish or a parrot. Chad finally caved in to Joseph's cuteness and told him to pick out any goldfish he liked. Joseph selected the tiniest one in the aquarium. It measures, barely, an inch long and is a skinny little guy.
In the car, I asked what he was going to name his fish. He looked at me in surprise."But I don't know his name."
"You can pick something out for him. He's your fish."
Joseph leaned down close to the plastic bag housing the little fish. "What's your name baby fish?"
He listened intently and then looked up at us, "His name is Goliath."
Of course.
The really funny thing is that we're not quite certain where he's heard this name. It's an unusual name and he doesn't go to Sunday school. Maybe the fish really thinks his name is Goliath.
