Before I can post about the weekend we just had, I have to go back to the previous weekend. Gotta keep it chronological.
On Friday morning, we spent a lot of time working in the garden. We trimmed back even more and made sure that all the "orphaned" plants found homes. (Too bad I went a bit mad in the herb section of OSH on Sunday and found more orphaned plants. Really...I just need to stop now.)
Joseph had his first gymnastics class Friday afternoon. He loved it. I was expecting a Mommy and Me type of format, so was surprised to discover that, "Parents sit on the chairs, students this is Coach Jessie." Joseph did so well. He was a bit timid at first, but soon warmed up to Coach Jessie. (It probably helps that she's young, blonde and very pretty. The little man loves blondes. Like really loves blondes. Whenever he sees a blonde - little girl, teenager, adult - he smiles his flirtatious little smile and says, "I like her. She's pretty.") By the end of class he was holding her hand and chatting her up on the way to the water fountain.
Side note: I think the kids liked using the drinking fountain more than learning their tumbling skills. Every time the coach asked if they were thirsty, their eyes lit up and they clamored to the red line to be led out.
The class was an hour long. By the time it was over, we were ready to go home for a snack. Afterwards, we went to the park to fly kites while we waited for Chad to get off work and then went out to dinner - 'cause we're wild and crazy that way.
Saturday was a busy day for Chad. Not only did he work a tournament in the morning, but he had a class in the afternoon followed by a trip to the races with Ken. In between it all, he helped me clean house. (Plus a quick trip to find Goliath III.)
Side note: I really need to find someone to do my spring...er...summer cleaning. *sigh*
While Chad was at the races, Joseph and I watched a movie. I told him he could pick any DVD he liked from Red Box. He settled, to my great disappointment, on Dora and the Superbabies. As I posted on Facebook...I deserve a medal of valor for sitting through that one. Ugh.
We ran a few errands Sunday morning and then came home to host my Gardening Group. It was so much fun to meet with the ladies and talk about our mutual addiction to plants and concerns about soil, sun and water. Our harvests are beginning, so we were all able to share a bit. I handed out carrots, another gave away oregano and mint and still another arrived with berries. We've decided to have a tasting at our July meeting. Yum!
Thirty minutes after the last of the group left, Ken and Sue arrived for a BBQ. (See: Mango Chutney Chicken recipe) Ken helped Chad trim the tree while Sue helped Joseph improve his swing. (The kid's a Tee Ball natural.)
I finally collapsed on the couch last night to watch "True Blood" and zone out. It was a fun, homey weekend.
