Boys Camping

Benny came over last weekend and spent the night. The day was so warm (as was the evening) I wanted to find something to keep the boys occupied outside. That "something" turned out to be Joseph's little tent. I set it up under the tree, threw a few blankets inside and helped the boys "pack" their camping gear, which, to two small boys consists of Hot Wheels, aliens and fish.

While they played in the tent, I made chicken nuggets, tortellini and oranges (weird combo now that I think of it) and let them eat it outside on the picnic table. Chad had suggested that I use the fire pit and have them roast hot dogs but being out numbered (Chad worked late) I felt that the combination of the boys and fire was not a good idea. I put out battery operated votive candles instead. They loved their mini campfires and "roasted" a marshmallow over it after they were done with dinner.

They had a blast and, best of all, by the time they finished it was bath and bed time. The next day, Chad took down the tent, but I have a feeling it'll be coming out a lot this summer - even though The Belly and The Wedding and The Work Schedule prevent us from taking too many actual camping trips.
