Joseph Little Bird

Every night, before he goes to sleep, Joseph and I tell "Joseph Little Bird" stories. They always start the same, "Once upon a time there lived a little bird named Joseph. Joseph had two beautiful blue eyes, two strong wings and a great big beak." That always makes Joseph giggle. Then I go on to tell about the adventures Joseph Little Bird had throughout the day. Joseph adds little bits here and there (which helps me figure out what happened while I was at work) and we always end the story with:

"Joseph Little Bird was so tired from his long day. After his bath, he crawled into his fluffy nest and covered himself with a cozy blanket. His mommy tucked him in and said, 'Tweet tweet, tweet tweet.' Which is Bird for, 'I love you, Joseph Little Bird.' And Joseph Little Bird hugged his mommy and said, 'Tweet tweet tweet, tweet.' Which is Bird for 'I love you too, Mommy.' His mommy gave him a big kiss and Joseph Little Bird closed his eyes and fell asleep."

It's one of my favorite parts of the day. I love seeing Joseph's day through his eyes. He always acts excited and shocked that Joseph Little Bird did the same things he did during the day, often adding, "I went to the park too!" or "I played with Daddy too!"

Yesterday, Joseph Little Bird had a very busy day. He met his grandparents at Kohl's where they went to pick up his Daddy's birthday present. Afterwards, he and his Mommy and Daddy went to the music store to look at guitars. Joseph Little Bird played the drums and shook the maracas. On the way back to the car, his family decided to stop at Subway and have lunch. Joseph Little Bird loves turkey and pepperjack sandwiches. Just before they got back to the car, they saw a silly ice cream shop. Joseph Little Bird went in and ordered silly pink ice cream that tasted like candy canes. He ate it with a silly pink spoon and laughed at the silly dog on the wall.

Joseph Little Bird was so tired after his morning, that he took a nice, long nap. When he woke up, he and Mommy Bird went to the park where they climbed and slid and ran and crawled. There was a dragon with green eyes and a green belly that was trying to break into a tower. Joseph Little Bird was so brave! He ran under the dragon's nose and hid with Mommy in a crumbling tower.

After the park, he helped Mommy grocery shop. Joseph Little Bird is such a big helper! He pushed the cart and put groceries in. He even helped pick out the oranges! Afterwards he came home and his mommy made him tacos with oranges for dessert. After dinner he watched "The Upside Down Show" and took a bath.

Joseph Little Bird had a very busy day!
